Pray for Avery

Avery is a 5 month old baby girl who SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy ).  Avery's genetic disease is incurable and Avery will live no longer than 18 months from now.  Her mother, Laura, was a teacher at the school the kids attended in Houston.  Here is a link to Avery's blog so you can read more about her:

Please pray for this darling little girl and her parents.  I can't imagine how tough it is to hear that your child is not going to live long.  They are trying so hard to get the word out about SMA, which is the #1 genetic killer of children under the age of 2.

Thanks!

Dallas Stars Win DFW Super NIT Tournament

This weekend Bobby's team, the Dallas Stars, were part of the DFW NIT Tournament in Allen, Texas.  We had two games on Saturday where we won 1 game and lost 1 game.  The boys started Sunday morning playing the Tribe baseball team and won 11 to 4.  Bobby made 4 outs and 1 assist, 1 rbi and scored twice.  The championship game was against the Stix.  Bobby had a tough time at bat in the second game.  He was put out at 1st base twice and one fly ball was caught.  On defense, Bobby made two outs.  Every single member of the team contributed with good hits and great defense.  Its amazing to watch how much they have grown since the beginning of the season.  You can see how much they trust each other and are really coming together as a team.  Way to go, Stars!!

Memories

I had an extra hour of free time today and decided to take a look at some old photos.  It makes me incredibly happy to look back and and remember some really fun times.  Here is one of my all time favorite photos.  We were in Colorado snow skiing and ringing in 2008.  The kids loved a giant bubble bath at the end of every day.

Our New Friends, Flutter and Scratch

A week ago, the kids looked out the window and saw 2 ducks.  They decided the feed them some bread.  Since then, they keep coming by to say hello.  The kids named them Flutter and Scratch.  Flutter is the girl and Scratch is the boy.

Pool Time

We have had a few weeks of 80 degree plus temperatures in North Texas so the pool is finally warm enough for us all to swim!  The kids have been swimming for about 3 weeks, but its been way too cold for mom and dad to get in.  Last night, we lit up the bbq pit and had some great family time in the backyard.

Hunt for Eggcellence Tournament

Bobby's team, The Dallas Stars, participated in the Hunt for Eggcellence Tournament ALL day Saturday. The tournament was set up with one pool game and then single elimination. We arrived at the ballpark in McKinney, Texas at 8:15 for team warm ups. The boys played their first game against the Irving Mets and won 20-5. It was great to see the boys really working hard together. Our next game was at 1pm against the TCA Twins. Again, our boys came out batting like champs and fielding with no errors. The Stars won 13-5. Our boys were on a winning high and you could see the fire in their eyes. I was so proud of how every single boy was contributing to the team. At 6pm, the Stars played in the semi-final game against the Frisco Thunder. It was the hardest game of the day so far because it decided who was going to the championship game. The Stars won 13-10 and were headed to their first tournament championship game this season!! At 8:30 we began our fight for the 1st place trophy against the NTX Coyotes. The first 3 innings the Stars held the Coyotes to 3 runs so they were winning 9 to 3. The fourth inning, the Coyotes came out fighting with some seriously good bats and the inning ended with the score 10-9. The Stars were down by one point. Unfortunately, the Coyotes won 16 to 15. The one point loss was hard for some of our boys to take, but I am proud of the way they played hard and didn't give up. Way to go, Stars!!!

Carissa Recognized as All Star at Mavs Game

Friday night we went to our first Mavericks game. The game was intense as it went into overtime and the Trailblazers won by 2 at the buzzer. The highlight of the night was seeing Carissa honored as a Mavs Academic All-Star!

Baseball,Soccer and Shopping, Oh My!!

We had a very, very busy weekend. Bobby and B Money (little Bobby's baseball name) left Friday evening to go to a baseball tournament in Waco. The girls, Janice and I stayed in Dallas because Jenna had a soccer game Saturday afternoon. Then the 4 of us headed to Waco to watch the games on Sunday. Jenna's team, the Green Hornets, won their game 3 to 1. Jenna played an awesome game and made 2 assists. Bobby's team, the Dallas Stars, won their first game on Sunday. Unfortunately, they lost the 2nd game which knocked them out of the tournament. Sunday evening, we went for a swim and then the kids did a fashion show with their new clothes. Hope you had a great weekend as well.
